Was playing this song in my car on my way back from work, and it really struck a chord with me. If you don’t know me - I work at a (purty big) church doing in-house graphic design and printing. I share an office with 3 printers… constantly humming… I’ve actually grown quite accostomed to it. If they aren’t making noise… I know there’s something up: Quick! Change the paper! Get some more [Yellow, Magenta, Cyan, aaand Black] ink in it! In fact, my job is a constant stream of interruptions to working on graphics under the clock. Busily keeping things in order, mind constantly in a circus of technology, I wouldn’t have it any other way even if it is somewhat stressful (especially with my boss being absent this week).
YMCK has officially produced the theme to my job.

This song. So awesome.
This album. So awesome.
I’m glad you asked! I’ll give you some!
I’ve been using this wood paneling wallpaper for years. Crisp, clean, non-distracting like a workspace should be: http://dl.getdropbox.com/u/87873/hardwood_lights-1440x900.jpg
I use that for my main monitor.
For my laptop screen I use the black wood paneling found in this pack: http://fav.me/d2odg1e
Tons of other awesome patterned wallpapers in that pack, too.
I know that stuff can eventually get boring, so every now and then I’ll throw something videogame/art related up. Thats when I turn to places like CoolVibe: http://coolvibe.com/ SWEET digital art there.
Also, I love me some pixel art, so sometimes I’ll enlarge certain works to get some HD Pixels going. IE this demake of Vanquish by Junkboy [artist for Minecraft]: http://dl.getdropbox.com/u/87873/vanq_full.png

“Camila” by Balún. This free track is available in two versions on the band’s Bandcamp page, as a “preview of our newer material.” Glad to hear the new stuff is as tranquil and beautiful as ever.
This song was originally available from Club Fonograma in 2009, where it was called “a superb tale of ghostly approach & loss (more accurately [an] imaginary friend),” but since it was reposted on Bandcamp it seemed like a good opportunity to make sure everyone’s heard it!
For more Balún mellowness, here’s a live, acoustic performance of “El Arbol y Las Otras Cosas”:
And here’s a “Happy New Year” video using “Snol” as background music:
That’s the sound of your morning being awesome.

Missed seeing them live in Richmond (closest possible place to Williamsburg for them to play)… so a complete live recording is JAWSOME. Really hoping they’ll make a surprise appearance at MAGFest. :\
“Blackout City” from last week’s Anamanaguchi show at New York City’s Knitting Factory. I haven’t listened to the other MP3s from the full concert recording by NYCTaper (which includes a new song, “UNME”), but I assure you they’re amaaaaaazing. Anamanaguchi’s live performances tend to be! I’m too excited to listen — must write about it first.
The sound quality should be pretty great, too. NYCTaper “recorded this set with the four microphone rig set up in front of the soundboard area. The sound quality in the venue was excellent, and this room recording captures the energy of the room that night.”
Enjoy the soundtrack to your Wednesday!

Remember! If you ask a question anonomously, you are officially labeled a creeper! :D
We gave a few readers the opportunity to watch 2 Player Productions’ chiptune documentary Reformat the Planet for free in our birthday contest. If you didn’t happen to win that, you now have a second chance to check it out — and you don’t have to do anything more complicated than clicking on a link. (Well, you have to live in the US, which would be a lot of work for some of you.)
You can watch the documentary right now on Hulu! I guess it got reformatted itself. It’s only available on computers, and not Hulu Plus-enabled TVs or phones or whatever. And, of course, you don’t get any of the amazing extras that you would get from purchasing it from Fangamer. But it is the movie, for free, on your computer. However you choose to watch it, you should watch it!

If you don’t like Chiptune, just enjoy the beautiful album art by the amazing Lackey. If you do enjoy Chiptune, then you know this album is 4 years in the making. Definitely buying this once I’m a little more comfortable with how much I’m spending after these first few days of moving in. First time I’ve paid for $75 worth of groceries in a while. :I
